Following hot on the heels of their current chart topped "Stay With Me", ERASURE, Britain's most successful pop duo to date, have announced the release of their ninth album entitled "Erasure" in 23rd October 1995.
The album was started in 1994, not long after the release of their previous album, "I Say I Say I Say", when all Vince and Andy wanted to do was dive straight back into the studio.
"Erasure" comprises eleven illustrious new songs highlighting the ever-growing strength and diversity of the duo's songwriting abilities. Gone are the 3 minute pop songs; in their place are fresh Erasure-esque compositions cleverly intertwined with innovative instrumental backdrops. From the Hi-NRG of "Intro: Guess I'm Into Feeling", the lulling refrains of "Rock Me Gently", through to the epic proportions of "Stay With Me" and the beautiful pensiveness of "A Long Goodbye", the album is packed full of euphoric masterpieces, making it the band's finest album to date.
The majority of the songs were written in Dublin and have been recently polished to perfection in Vince's new dome shaped studio, which has been built over the last four years. "It was actually built by digging a large semicircular hole in the ground and inflating a big balloon in it. The balloon was then covered in concrete and metal structure to get the shape, and the builders finished it off from there, topping it all with copper roof", explains Vince.
"Erasure" was written by Vince Clarke and Andy Bell, produced by Thomas Fehlmann (of The Orb and producer of Sun Electric) and Gareth Jones (Orbital, House of Love) and mixed by Francois Kevorkian (Kraftwerk, U2).
